Yellowstone is a spectacular place.  The world's first national park, it has beautiful scenery, a huge variety of animals, many thermal springs and a seemingly endless diversity of other attractions.  Visiting soon after the park reopened from the winter was an ideal time of year.  One can only imagine what the crowds must be like in summer to see this national treasure.
