Panama Canal Transit Continued

The second set of locks at Pedro Miguel

The Gaillard Cut, the most difficult area in building the canal.  Landslides still sometimes occur and the correct angle of repose for the cut (to stabilize and prevent landslides) has never been determined.  The cut is eight miles long.

Dredging occurs continually to keep the canal the proper depth.
