We had quite a bit of road and sightseeing to cover this day so off we went in the morning, first to see Fatehpur Sikri, an abandoned Mughal ghost city.
Next, we cycled through the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary which is a birder's dream but were told the bird population has been reduced due to the low water levels. Nevertheless, the rickshaw ride through the park was very relaxing.
Finally, we ended up at Laxmi Vilas Palace for a late lunch before completing a long car drive to Jaipur, arriving at the Samode Haveli hotel in Jaipur after dark. There we had a wonderful two floor suite, complete with multiple bedrooms and baths. The Samode Haveli is a 200 year old mansion with maze-like approaches to the rooms and a wonderful, pooled courtyard where breakfast and dinner are served. It had a tremendous amount of atmosphere and the service was very good.
