Huatulco (wa-tool-co), a name, meaning a place where one respects trees, is composed of nine stunning bays.  Since 1974, the Mexican government has spent $millions to turn the area into a leading resort.

Adjacent to the town plaza, the church in the town of La Crucecita contains a ceiling  picturing a Madonna for its entire length, qualifying it for the Guinness Book of Records.
