The Boschendal Wine Estate-- The largest wine estate in South Africa is located in the Franschhoek ward of Paarl. The estate is the original French Huguenot wine farm and has just celebrated its 300th anniversary.  It is composed of about 10,000 acres. Our guide, Hans, is shown in the corner of the first photo.

The Huguenot Monument, in the Franschhoek Valley.  The monument was built to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the French Huguenot protestant refugees who settled in the valley in the late 1600s.  The three arches signify the Trinity and the female figure holds a Bible and a broken chain, signifying the break to freedom of religion in South Africa.
